LS Polls 2024: Over 1,900 problematic polling booths in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 30,500 police personnel will be deployed across the 25,231 polling booths in the state, which also includes officers assigned to guard the 54 voter assistance booths. Officials from six companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are expected to arrive in Kerala soon.

A rigorous watch will be maintained over 742 highly problematic polling stations and 1,161 other problematic ones in the state. A contingent of 7,500 central forces members will patrol these booths. Each problematic booth will be guarded by at least two officers.

Webcasting facilities have been installed in 22,832 booths. All polling stations in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Thiruvananthapuram districts will be under live surveillance. Similarly, 75% of stations in other districts will be monitored live.

50 election observers have been appointed in Kerala. Across the polling booths, 30,238 ballot units, 30,238 control units, and 32,698 VVPAT machines, including reserve machines, are being utilised for the polls.
