Kochi: CPM leader K P Rajendran has lodged a complaint alleging bogus voting by BJP supporters at polling booths in Thrissur.

“Bjp is sure that they won’t win in Alathur. Realising that the party workers have cunningly added several fake names in the  voters list. They did so by adding names of people who do not live in the constituency in the voters list by faking that they were residents of various flats across the Thrissur city. It should be noted that in the latest voters list there were about 10,000  additional votes in Thrissur assembly constituency alone this time round and this could not have happened without such a ploy by the BJP,” claimed P K Rajendran.

“At booth number 30 in Punkunnam in Thrissur, 44 ‘non-resident’ voters were identified in an inspection by the  BLO.  All of them would have surely headed for voting. Our party has lodged a complaint with evidence against this malpractice,” said the CPM leader who is also the chief election agent of LDF candidate V S Sunilkumar.

Meanwhile, BJP accused LDF workers of stopping rightful voters from exercising their right to franchise.
