Don’t waste your right, vote NOTA if nothing else says Vishnu Unnikrishnan

I have been a voter since I turned 18. Only once was I unable to cast my vote as I was away due to shooting. I felt a sense of loss that day, says actor Vishnu Unnikrishnan.
Vishnu’s son Madhav’s rice ceremony (choroonu) was on the eve of the last assembly elections. After the ceremony, he returned home and went to cast his vote along with his mother. His father usually votes in the morning. This is a routine that is followed in their house, Vishnu said.
“I believe that voting is our right. We should never waste it. Democracy exists through elections. It doesn’t matter who you vote for. People that we don’t like or those with political positions that we can’t adhere to might be contesting. But we should not stop voting because of that,” Vishnu said.
“Many people are reluctant to vote and decide to stay home for this reason. My opinion is that one should not stay away. Vote for NOTA at least, only then will our democracy survive. My vote is in the Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency. Even though I live in Thrikkakara now, I will come to my ancestral home in Kalur to vote,” he added.
