Kozhikode: All India Congress Committee spokesperson Dr Shama Mohamed has been booked in a hate speech case. During a speech at MK Raghavan’s election campaign, Shama made a remark that if the BJP regained power, there wouldn't be any more mosques and churches. A Thiruvananthapuram resident lodged a police complaint with Kozhikode City Medical College over the matter, alleging that she was trying to create religious rivalry.

Reacting to the development, Shama said she had not said anything wrong and was unaware of why she was charged with this case. She said she was speaking about the Manipur issue and not about any particular religion. According to Shama, the statement was not intended to hurt the sentiments of any religion. "When it comes to Congress leaders, Kerala Police files FIRs swiftly; this should be applicable to BJP leaders too," she added.
