Playing against Yamal a great challenge: Harry Kane ahead of Euro final

New Delhi: Ahead of the EURO 2024 final, England captain Harry Kane has praised Spain's Lamine Yamal as one of the most challenging players for the upcoming marquee match.
The final showdown between Spain and England is set to take place at Berlin's Olympiastadion on Sunday.
Kane, speaking to the media, extended birthday wishes to Yamal, emphasising the young Spanish player's fearless and enjoyable style of play.
"I want to wish him a happy birthday. He's a fantastic player. At 17 years old, to perform like this in such a tournament speaks volumes about him. You can see he plays with freedom, without fear, enjoying himself... He's going to be one of the toughest players in the match. I congratulate him on what he's achieved so far," Kane was quoted by Goal.com.
Spain secured their spot in the final by defeating France 2-1 in the first semi-final. Meanwhile, England overcame Netherlands 2-1 in the second semi-final, courtesy of Ollie Watkins' decisive late goal.
Under Gareth Southgate's guidance, England is on the brink of a historic achievement, set to play a major tournament final on foreign soil for the first time. The team is also aiming to end their 58-year-long wait for a major tournament title.
This marks England's second consecutive appearance in the EURO final, following their defeat to Italy in EURO 2020 on penalties.
Reflecting on their semi-final against Netherlands, the match began with Dutch dominance in the first ten minutes. Xavi Simons opened the scoring for the Netherlands with a stunning long-range effort from outside the English box.
However, Harry Kane swiftly equalised for England in the 18th minute, placing his shot perfectly beyond the reach of the Dutch goalkeeper.
The decisive moment came in added time of the second half, when Ollie Watkins secured England's victory with a well-taken goal from a tight angle on the right side of the Dutch box, sealing their place in the final.
The stage is now set for a thrilling encounter between two formidable sides, with England seeking redemption and Spain aiming to add another EURO title to their illustrious history. ANI
