World’s heaviest and largest ‘Muggle’ pumpkin breaks two Guinness World Records | WATCH

Hampshire, UK: Halloween in Britain just got even more impressive thanks to two green-fingered brothers from Hampshire, who have officially grown the world’s heaviest and largest pumpkin, earning not one but two Guinness World Records.
Ian and Stuart Paton, twin brothers from Lymington in the New Forest, have spent more than five decades perfecting their craft of cultivating giant pumpkins, a passion they began as teenagers. Now aged 64, their lifelong dedication has finally paid off.
Their record-breaking pumpkin, affectionately nicknamed “Muggle” after their love of the Harry Potter franchise, weighed an astonishing 1,278.8 kg and measured 649.8 cm in circumference. The measurements were confirmed on October 6 2025, officially earning the brothers two Guinness World Record titles: Heaviest pumpkin and largest pumpkin by circumference.
Transporting the gigantic gourd was no small task. The Patons carefully loaded their precious cargo, roughly the weight of a small car, and drove it from their hometown to the competition, a two-hour journey.
After the official weigh-in, the colossal pumpkin was taken to Sunnyfields Farm near Southampton, where it is now on public display. The Patons were presented with their Guinness World Record certificates at the event.

A record-breaking day of pumpkins
Coincidentally, the same day saw Sunnyfields Farm, owned by the Nelson family, setting out to break a Halloween-themed record of its own. Using 10,000 gourds, they created a 2,281 sq ft squash mosaic featuring the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, complete with bats, the largest of its kind in the world.
Osbourne’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, even visited the farm to admire the spectacular tribute.
The farm had previously held the record for the largest squash mosaic in 2023, depicting Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Decades of dedication
The Paton brothers are no strangers to the world of competitive pumpkin growing. In 2022, they claimed the British record with a 1,205 kg (2,656 lb) pumpkin and have come close to a world title several times before — missing out either due to tiny imperfections or narrowly falling short on weight.
Determined to overcome the UK’s unpredictable weather, they began growing their pumpkins in a greenhouse, a move that helped them achieve extraordinary results.
With their record-breaking pumpkin now proudly displayed in Hampshire, the Paton twins have not only set a new global benchmark but also brought a bit of Harry Potter magic to this year’s Halloween celebrations.
