Washington: US President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that Hamas would face severe repercussions if it does not accept his Gaza peace proposal within a few days. Speaking to US military leaders in Quantico, Virginia, Trump said, "We have one signature that we need, and that signature will pay in hell if they don't sign. I hope they sign for their own good and create something really great."

Trump previously told reporters he was giving Hamas "three or four days" to respond to the offer.

The peace plan calls for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, followed by the group's disarmament and a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The proposal envisions a post-war transitional authority led by Trump himself.

Additionally, the plan requires that Hamas militants be barred from any future governmental roles, though those who agree to "peaceful co-existence" would receive amnesty.
