Four dead, 15 injured in Thailand school shooting near Bangkok

At least four people were killed and 15 students injured after a teenage student opened fire at a high school in Thailand's Nonthaburi province, just north of Bangkok, on Friday, according to local authorities.

Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee told Thai PBS that two teachers and two students lost their lives in the attack at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district.  

The 15 injured students were not struck by bullets but were hurt while trying to escape the chaos that unfolded after the shooting, the deputy minister said.

Authorities identified the suspected attacker as a teenage student of the school. Local media, citing officials, reported that the suspect also died following the attack.

However, there were conflicting accounts over the circumstances of the death. While some reports said police fatally shot the student, others stated that the suspect died by suicide.

Emergency services and police rushed to the campus after reports of gunfire. Images from the scene showed students evacuating the school grounds as ambulances arrived.

One injured person was seen being taken away on a stretcher, while emergency personnel treated another victim outside the campus.

Investigators have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with officials yet to reveal what may have led to the attack.

According to district authorities, Debsirin Nonthaburi School had around 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year.
