PM Modi’s 75th birthday: World leaders applaud his leadership and contributions to global partnerships

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received greetings from global leaders on his 75th birthday, highlighting his international stature and strong diplomatic ties. Leaders from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Russia lauded his leadership and contributions to bilateral and global cooperation.

Australian Prime Minister calls Modi a friend

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended warm birthday greetings, calling PM Modi a "friend" and praising the strong ties between India and Australia.

In a video message, Albanese said he was "proud" to share such a strong friendship with India and lauded the "incredible contribution" of the Indian community in Australia.

"Happy Birthday to my friend Prime Minister Modi. Australia is proud to share such a strong friendship with India and we're grateful every day for the incredible contribution of the Indian community here in Australia. I look forward to catching up with you soon, Prime Minister, and many more years of friendship and progress," he said.

Australia and India have strengthened cooperation across defence, trade, education, and renewable energy, with both governments describing their partnership as a key pillar of stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

New Zealand Prime Minister praises Modi’s vision

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon also extended warm birthday wishes, lauding Modi’s leadership and vision for India.

In a video message, Luxon said: "Kia ora, namaskar, my good friend Prime Minister Modi. Congratulations on your 75th birthday from me and all of your friends across New Zealand. A milestone like this is a moment to reflect on the wisdom of your leadership as you seek to guide India towards becoming a developed country by 2047."

He expressed eagerness to strengthen cooperation between the two nations: "I'm really excited about New Zealand partnering more with India to achieve that vision as we look to ensure both our great nations achieve the security and also the prosperity that we seek."

Recalling his visit to India earlier this year, Luxon added, "I hope I might be able to reciprocate the very warm hospitality you extended to me in March by hosting you here in New Zealand. But in the meantime, I wish you a very, very happy birthday."

US President hails Modi’s efforts on Ukraine

US President Donald Trump conveyed his wishes through a phone call, describing PM Modi’s work as "tremendous."

"Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine! President DJT," Trump said.

PM Modi thanked Trump and emphasised his commitment to India-US relations: "Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights. We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict."

Russia appreciates Modi’s contribution to bilateral ties

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov also wished PM Modi, highlighting decades-long Indo-Russia friendship. In a post on X in Hindi, Alipov wrote: "Heartfelt birthday greetings and best wishes to the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri @narendramodiji! We are grateful for his invaluable contribution in taking the decades-old friendship between Russia and India to new heights. May he continue to succeed in every endeavour for the welfare of the country and the world."
