Two dead, several injured in Minneapolis shooting

Washington: A gunman opened fire on Wednesday in Minneapolis, leaving two people and the suspect dead, and injuring several others, including three police officers.

Police spokesperson Garrett Parten confirmed at a press conference that one victim died at the scene, while another passed away after being taken to the hospital alongside three other injured individuals. Parten added that the suspect was also dead, though it remained unclear how he died.

Three police officers were hospitaliSed during the incident. Two suffered gunshot wounds—one was shot in the leg, and another underwent surgery—while the injury of the third officer was not specified. A hospital spokesperson told AFP that the officers were expected to survive and were in "stable condition."

Authorities have not yet released a motive for the shooting. In response to the event, Governor Tim Walz asked the public to "pray for Minnesota," and FBI Director Kash Patel stated that federal agents were responding to the situation. City officials plan to hold a follow-up press conference later in the day. (AFP)
