US military aid to Ukraine: Key deliveries since 2022

Washington: Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has provided a substantial USD 65.9 billion in military aid. However, the future of this support is uncertain after Donald Trump ordered a pause in aid to Kyiv on Monday. Under the leadership of then-President Joe Biden, the United States reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, but Trump's recent shift in policy has cast doubt on further assistance.
The following is an overview of the main deliveries of military aid to Ukraine, as outlined by the State Department on January 20.
Air defence systems
With the ongoing Russian air assaults, the US has sent increasingly advanced air defence systems to Ukraine. Notable supplies include:
- Three Patriot surface-to-air missile batteries.
- Twelve NASAMS systems.
- HAWK systems and munitions.
- More than 3,000 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles.
21 air surveillance radars have also been provided, as well as equipment that helps integrate Western launchers and missiles into Ukraine's existing systems.
Artillery and rocket launchers
In terms of artillery, the US has sent significant quantities, including:
- More than 200 155mm howitzers, alongside three million artillery rounds.
- 72 105mm howitzers and a million rounds.
- Over 700,000 mortars.
Rocket launcher systems have also been delivered, including more than 40 HIMARS mounted on light-armoured vehicles, with corresponding ammunition.
Anti-tank and anti-vehicle weaponry
The US has sent over 10,000 Javelins, anti-tank missiles, which became a symbol of Ukraine's early resistance. In addition:
- Over 120,000 other anti-vehicle weapons.
- 10,000 TOW anti-tank missiles.
For small arms, more than 500 million rounds of ammunition and grenades have been provided.
Helicopters, drones, and tanks
While the Pentagon has refrained from sending combat aircraft directly to Ukraine, the US did deliver:
- 20 Soviet-designed Mi-17 military helicopters.
- Various models of drones.
After delays, the Biden administration sent 31 Abrams tanks, the US military's most advanced heavy tanks, beginning in January 2023. Around 45 Soviet-designed T-72B tanks were also sent to Ukraine.
Armoured vehicles and support equipment
Other major deliveries from the US include:
- 300 Bradley fighting vehicles.
- 1,300 armoured personnel carriers.
- More than 5,000 Humvee military vehicles.
- 300 armoured ambulances.
The US also provided more than 100 patrol boats, coastal defence systems, Claymore mines, satellite communication systems, night vision goggles, and more than 100,000 sets of body armour.
