Washington: The granddaughter of US President Donald Trump has launched her own clothing brand, using the White House as the backdrop for a promotional photoshoot. Eighteen-year-old Kai Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr., unveiled her self-named label on social media on Thursday.

Wearing a £105 ($130) sweatshirt from her collection, Kai stood beside the 79-year-old President as he spoke to reporters outside the White House on Friday. Introducing her to the press, Trump said: “This is Kai, by the way,” referencing her appearance at last year’s Republican National Convention, where she delivered a short speech.

The two, who are both keen golfers, later boarded Marine One to attend the Ryder Cup tournament. Kai is expected to join the University of Miami’s golf team next year.

Her newly launched fashion brand features plain crew-neck sweatshirts emblazoned with her initials on the chest and her signature stitched at the cuff. Photos of Kai modelling the pieces on the White House grounds appear on the brand’s website.

Kai’s parents are divorced, and her mother is reportedly in a relationship with golf icon Tiger Woods.

President Trump, currently serving his second term in office, is well known for promoting a wide range of Trump-branded merchandise. He has faced repeated criticism for allegedly using the presidency to advance his family's business interests, including ventures in real estate and cryptocurrencies.
