Israeli military claims airstrike destroyed Iran’s F-14 jets at Isfahan airport

Jerusalem: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it destroyed several Iranian Grumman F-14 Tomcat fighter jets during an airstrike on Isfahan Airport, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran.
According to Israeli military statements reported by regional media, the operation targeted aircraft and air defence systems believed to pose threats to Israeli aircraft operating in Iranian airspace.
The F-14 Tomcat jets destroyed in the strike were originally supplied to Iran by the United States before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Iran remains the only country besides the United States to have operated the aircraft.
The strike comes amid a broader Israeli military campaign that has expanded across multiple locations in Iran. Earlier attacks reportedly destroyed aircraft associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force at Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran.
The wider conflict in West Asia has continued to intensify into its second week, with missile strikes, drone attacks and air operations spreading across the region.
Reports also indicate that Israeli strikes targeted oil storage facilities in Tehran and Alborz Province, resulting in fires and casualties among tanker drivers. Emergency teams were deployed to control the blaze while authorities said fuel distribution had not been disrupted.
Meanwhile, tensions have also spilled into neighbouring countries. In Kuwait City, authorities worked to contain fires following attacks, while Saudi Arabia reportedly intercepted drones near Riyadh.
The growing conflict has raised fears of a broader regional escalation, as military actions, proxy attacks and strategic strikes continue across West Asia.
