Iran officially announces ceasefire with Israel: Reports

Iran has officially declared that a ceasefire with Israel is now in effect, following four waves of Iranian missile attacks early Tuesday according to Iranian media. The announcement comes after a period of uncertainty, despite US President Donald Trump’s earlier claim that both nations had agreed to a “complete and total ceasefire.”
Trump’s statement came shortly after Iran launched a limited missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar on Monday, in retaliation for American airstrikes on its nuclear facilities.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had warned that Iran would cease its attacks if Israel halted its airstrikes by 4 a.m. local Tehran time. However, nearly an hour past the deadline, Israel’s military reported incoming missiles and activated sirens, including over Jerusalem. At least one interception was seen in the skies, with further missile warnings issued as morning broke.
