Tel-Aviv: The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued an urgent security advisory on Thursday, calling on all Indian nationals to remain vigilant as regional tensions continue to escalate.

The advisory, released Jan. 15, 2026, instructs the thousands of Indian citizens currently living and working in Israel to strictly adhere to safety protocols issued by local authorities and the Israeli Home Front Command. It comes as India’s Ministry of External Affairs separately urged its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Israel until further notice.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay calm and follow the safety guidelines,” the embassy stated in a social media post and through official distribution channels.

The warning follows a period of heightened instability in the Middle East, characterised by a violent internal crackdown in Iran and subsequent threats of regional retaliation. Earlier this week, the Indian Embassy in Tehran took the more drastic step of advising its nationals to leave Iran at the earliest possible opportunity, citing rapidly deteriorating security conditions.

Officials in New Delhi have also warned of potential disruptions to international travel. While Iran reopened its airspace late Thursday after a temporary closure, major airlines, including Air India, have continued to monitor the situation closely, with some previously suspending flights or rerouting around the region.

The Indian Embassy in Israel has established 24-hour emergency helplines and has encouraged those who have not yet registered with the mission to do so immediately to ensure they receive real-time updates.

There are currently an estimated 20,000 Indian citizens in Israel, a population largely comprised of caregivers, IT professionals, and construction workers.

For many, the current advisory echoes a similar period of tension in mid-2025, when a brief but intense exchange between regional powers led to the activation of air defence systems and mass entries into civilian bomb shelters.

Indian nationals requiring assistance in Israel have been directed to contact the embassy at +972-54-7520711 or +972-54-3278392.
