Edinburgh airport halts all flights following air traffic control failure

Edinburgh Airport has suspended all flights after a significant IT failure affected its air traffic control systems.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, the airport confirmed that no aircraft were currently taking off or landing while engineers work to fix the problem. Passengers were advised that updates would be provided as soon as possible and were urged to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date information on individual flights.
The airport’s statement said: “Due to an IT issue with our air traffic control provider, no flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport.
“Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible.
“We will provide updates when possible – please contact your airline for the latest information on your flight.”
The extent of delays and cancellations is not yet clear, but disruption is expected to continue until the fault is resolved.
