Dubai: An Indian national injured in the strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has died from their injuries, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia confirmed on Sunday, updating the casualty figure to one fatality and 10 injured among Indian citizens.

The update follows a severe offensive on the regional aviation hub that left 12 people dead and over 300 injured. Saudi authorities attributed the action to Houthi militants, marking the latest escalation targeting civil aviation infrastructure in the region over the past week.

"It is learnt that one Indian national injured in the Riyadh attack has unfortunately lost his life today. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. We are in touch with the family and will provide all support for ensuring the early repatriation of mortal remains," the Indian Embassy stated in an updated release.

Diplomatic action and government response

Indian diplomatic officials in Riyadh continue to liaise directly with Saudi medical authorities to ensure necessary care for the 10 hospitalised Indian nationals while facilitating paperwork and logistical arrangements for the repatriation of the deceased's mortal remains.

In a formal statement issued on Sunday, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly denounced the targeting of civilian infrastructure.

“We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property,” the MEA stated, emphasising that aggression against non-combatant facilities is “completely unacceptable and must cease immediately”.

Advisory to Indian Expatriates

Reaffirming support for Saudi Arabia's territorial sovereignty, the embassy re-issued a directive urging Indian nationals residing in the Kingdom to maintain extreme caution, limit unnecessary transit and adhere to official advisories released by local security services.
