The year 2024 has been eventful for the Indian automobile market, with numerous high-profile launches spanning electric vehicles, SUVs, and sedans. From Mahindra's rugged Thar Roxx to Tata's futuristic Curvv EV, car enthusiasts have been spoilt for choice. Here's a round-up of the most noteworthy car launches of the year.

Mahindra Thar Roxx

Mahindra unveiled the much-anticipated Thar Roxx in 2024, retaining its iconic rugged design while introducing fresh updates like a redesigned 6-slat grille, LED headlights, and C-shaped LED DRLs. Available in rear-wheel and four-wheel drive variants, the Thar Roxx offers two engine choices: a 2-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. Standout features include dual 10.25-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and Level-2 ADAS.

Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6

Mahindra also ventured further into the EV market with the XEV 9e and BE 6 electric SUVs. Both models showcase an aggressive design with connected LED lighting, flush door handles, and a sloping roofline. Powered by 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options, they offer rear-wheel drive setups. 

The BE 6 delivers 286 PS and 380 Nm with a claimed range of 682 km, while the XEV 9e offers a similar power output and a range of 656 km. Shared features of both cars include powered ventilated seats, a Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic glass roof.

Honda Amaze

Honda introduced the latest generation of the Amaze this year, borrowing its sleek design cues and features from the Honda City and Honda Elevate. Equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, a lane watch camera, and ADAS, the new Amaze retains its 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 90 PS and 110 Nm.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The fourth-generation Maruti Swift debuted in May 2024, featuring updated styling, a 9-inch infotainment system, and a wireless phone charger. Powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, it delivers 82 PS and 112 Nm. Maruti later expanded the lineup with a factory-fitted CNG option.

Skoda Kylaq

Skoda entered the subcompact SUV segment with the Kylaq, offering four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige. Under the hood is a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 115 PS and 178 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

BYD eMAX 7

BYD launched the all-electric eMAX 7 MPV in October, succeeding the e6. The model is available with two battery packs—a 55.4 kWh option paired with a 163 PS motor and a 71.8 kWh version with a 204 PS motor. Key features include a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, a 5-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof, and ADAS.

Tata Altroz Racer

Tata Motors gave its premium hatchback a sporty twist with the Altroz Racer. Equipped with a 120 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, the Racer features distinctive orange accents, dual white racing stripes, and 'Racer' badging.

 MG Windsor EV

MG introduced the Windsor EV at a competitive price. It features a 38 kWh battery, delivering 136 PS and a range of 332 km. Notable additions include modern styling and connected features.

From rugged SUVs to futuristic EVs, 2024 has been a landmark year for car launches in India. These models not only cater to diverse buyer preferences but also highlight the rapid evolution of technology in the automotive sector. 

Tata Punch EV

Tata introduced the electric version of its popular Punch micro-SUV. With battery options of 25 kWh and 35 kWh, it offers a claimed range of up to 421 km. The Punch EV also includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, and wireless charging.

Tata Curvv and Curvv EV


Tata launched the Curvv EV, followed by petrol and diesel variants. The Curvv EV offers two battery options: a 45 kWh pack with 150 PS and a 55 kWh pack with 167 PS, delivering a claimed range of up to 585 km. The ICE variants are powered by 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre engines, available with manual and automatic transmissions. Both versions feature a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof.
