The Noida International Airport (NIAL) expected to be operational towards the end of 2024 has speeded up the process of building a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility on the 40-acre land on the airport.

This airport has also issued a global tender and is on a look-out for a company to develop this facility with the work expected to commence in the coming two to three months.

"The concessionaire is required to begin commercial operations of the MRO facility by 2030," explains Arun Vir Singh, the the chief executive of (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority) YEIDA.

"In order to make it happen with in the stipulated timeframe, it needs to finalise the development company through the tendering procedures as per the norms," Singh added.

Interestingly the NIAL will also develop an MRO hub on the 1365 acres land adjacent to the airport strip. Currently, the process of land acquisition is underway. Once the process is over, the government will hand over the land to NIAL, which plans to issue another tender towards next month to develop an MRO-hub on the 1365 acres of land.

In fact, the NIAL is already found to be in talks with some of the global companies to collaborate and invest in this upcoming venture.

The 1365-acre MRO hub is a part of airport's second phase of development that will be developed towards the end of 2024.
In order to encourage oversees investment, the government of Uttar Pradesh has also introduced a new MRO polity offering capital investment subsidies ranging from 5% to 12% for companies that submit their application by 31 December 2024.

The airport is expected to start commercial operation by the end of 2024. The Noida International Airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a 100% subsidiary of Swiss concessionaire Zurich International Airport AG while the nearby infrastructure is handled by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
