Thiruvananthapuram: The first Budget of the UDF government led by Chief Minister V D Satheesan has announced the launch of the 'One Kerala Karuthal Mission', a new initiative aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged families and individuals suffering from chronic illnesses. An allocation of ₹1 crore has been made for the project.

The mission will function as a technology-driven, transparent digital platform designed to connect donors with families in need of financial assistance.

According to the Budget, the primary objective of the initiative is to help families struggling to meet medical expenses and children's educational costs. The mission will facilitate financial support through contributions from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, corporate institutions and individual donors.

Key features of the mission

  • A transparent system to ensure that every donation reaches the intended beneficiaries.
  • Strict verification procedures to identify eligible families and enhance donor confidence.
  • A real-time public disclosure mechanism to ensure transparency in the collection and distribution of funds.

The government will directly take care of all the operational and administrative expenses, ensuring that the entire amount received as donations is utilised for beneficiary support.
