Jazeera Airways has increased its flight operations between India and Kuwait by adding more services through Saudi Arabia, in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. From April 7, the airline will operate additional flights to Indian cities including Kannur, Kozhikode, Mangaluru and Tiruchirappalli. These flights will be operated from Dammam in Saudi Arabia.

The move comes after Kuwait International Airport was shut down following the outbreak of the conflict on February 28. The airport has also suffered damage to its radar systems and fuel storage due to repeated attacks.

As a result, airlines based in Kuwait and Bahrain have temporarily shifted their operations to Saudi Arabia. Jazeera Airways initially began operating from Qaisumah airport on March 11 and later moved its operations to Dammam on March 26.

Jazeera Airways CEO Barathan Pasupathi said the airline has managed to restore its pre-conflict capacity to India despite the challenges. The additional flights are aimed at meeting the growing demand from passengers. He noted that the services have been especially helpful for Indian diaspora families, students, and migrant workers trying to travel between the two countries.

So far, the airline has operated around 50 two-way flights between Saudi Arabia and eight Indian cities, carrying nearly 8,000 passengers. Jazeera Airways is also planning to expand its network further by adding flights to seven more destinations in India. The airline is working with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and aviation authorities to obtain the necessary approvals.
