Gold Price today, August 20: 24K Gold rises ₹430/g, silver jumps ₹10,000/kg

Gold prices in India edged higher on Thursday, August 20, with domestic buying and continued safe-haven demand supporting the precious metal amid elevated global uncertainty. Silver prices also moved up, with rates nearing ₹2.55 lakh per kilogram in several major markets.
According to early-morning data from GoodReturns, the price of 24-carat gold rose by ₹430, taking the rate to around ₹1,59,270 for 10 grams. Silver gained nearly ₹10,000 per kilogram to trade close to ₹2,55,000.
The rise came despite mixed signals from international bullion markets, while fluctuations in the rupee continued to influence domestic precious metal prices.

The national average price of 24K gold stood at ₹15,927 per gram, while 22K gold was priced at ₹14,600 per gram. The 18K gold rate was around ₹11,946 per gram.

Delhi recorded the highest 24K gold rate among the listed major cities at ₹15,942 per gram. Vadodara and Ahmedabad also recorded relatively high rates, at around ₹15,932 per gram for 24K gold.
For 22K gold, Delhi was at ₹14,615 per gram, while Vadodara and Ahmedabad were around ₹14,605 per gram.
Silver price today in India
Silver prices remained close to ₹255 per gram, or around ₹2,55,000 per kilogram, across several major markets.
Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata recorded rates of around ₹2.55 lakh per kilogram. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala were higher at approximately ₹2.60 lakh per kilogram.
Silver prices remain sensitive to movements in international markets, while fluctuations in the rupee can also affect domestic rates.
