City-wise fuel update (12-12-2025): Petrol, diesel steady in metros; slight hike in Kerala, Jaipur

Petrol and diesel prices across major Indian cities remained unchanged on Friday, giving consumers a brief breather amid persistent global volatility in crude oil markets.
In Mumbai, petrol continues to retail at ₹103.54 per litre, unchanged for the day and fluctuating only marginally between ₹103.50 and ₹103.54 over the past ten days. Thiruvananthapuram recorded a slight uptick, with petrol now priced at ₹107.48, marking a modest rise of ₹0.15. Chennai, meanwhile, registered a tiny dip of ₹0.12, bringing rates down to ₹100.91 per litre.
Elsewhere, metro fuel prices held firm:
New Delhi: ₹94.77
Kolkata: ₹105.41
Other major cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Chandigarh also reported no change.
Diesel prices mirror petrol’s stability
Diesel rates followed a similar flat trajectory. In Mumbai, diesel remains at ₹90.03 per litre, unchanged from Thursday. The nationwide daily revision system—active since 2017—ensures prices align swiftly with global trends, though no immediate adjustments surfaced today.
Current diesel prices in key metros:
New Delhi: ₹87.67
Kolkata: ₹92.02
Chennai: ₹92.49
Both Thiruvananthapuram and Jaipur saw mild increases, with prices rising to ₹96.48 and ₹90.82, respectively.
LPG rates stable; Commercial cylinders see a modest cut
Domestic LPG prices continued their steady run this month. In Mumbai, a 14.2 kg household cylinder is priced at ₹852.50, with no movement recorded. Commercial cylinders, however, offered marginal respite: in Delhi, the 19 kg cylinder now costs ₹1,580.50—a cut of ₹10—with similar reductions seen in Mumbai, Chennai, and several other state capitals.
What’s driving the stability?
India’s retail fuel pricing remains tightly linked to global crude benchmarks, domestic taxes, and currency fluctuations. For now, the subdued movement brings consumers short-term stability but experts note that the next revisions will hinge on international energy developments.
