Bengaluru welcomes Collins Aerospace's new facility under India's PLI scheme

Collins Aerospace inaugurates India operations centre in Bengaluru under PLI schemeCollins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX (formerly Raytheon Technologies), inaugurated its new India Operations Centre (CIOC) at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, near Bengaluru.

The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the presence of Roy Gullickson, Senior Vice President of Operations, Collins Aerospace.This marks Collins Aerospace’s first facility in India, established under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.

With an investment of $100 million, the centre will cater to leading global aviation majors, including Boeing and Airbus. It is expected to create over 2,000 highly skilled jobs in the fields of research, development, and advanced manufacturing over the coming years. Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka’s leading position in the country’s aerospace and defence sector, noting that the state contributes nearly 65 percent to India’s total output in the industry.

“World-class aerospace and defence parks are being established in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Tumakuru, and Chamarajanagar, reflecting our vision to make Karnataka a global hub for high-technology manufacturing,” he said.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that more than 2,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are already engaged in aerospace and defence activities across the state. “Companies such as Mahindra Aerospace and Rangsons have made substantial investments.

Rangsons, in partnership with Boeing, is investing INR 2,915 crore, and as many as 48 agreements have been signed in the aerospace and defence sectors,” Siddaramaiah added. Expressing optimism about Karnataka’s investment climate, he stated that the state has attracted INR45,000 crore in investments and aims to generate 60,000 new jobs over the next five years. MB Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, described Collins Aerospace’s investment as a “milestone aligned with Karnataka’s long-term vision for aerospace and defence growth.”

He emphasised that India’s aviation market is projected to become the third-largest in the world by 2032, and global players like Collins Aerospace will play a critical role in achieving that goal. The Minister also commended the proactive role of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and Karnataka Udyog Mitra for facilitating necessary approvals and infrastructure support to ensure smooth establishment and operationalisation of the new manufacturing unit. The Collins India Operations Centre will manufacture a range of high-precision aerospace components, contributing to both domestic and global supply chains.

The facility is also expected to boost the state’s innovation and employment ecosystem while reinforcing Karnataka’s reputation as India’s aerospace capital.
