Canara Bank's social media account on 'X' hacked

New Delhi:  Canara Bank's official social media handle on X (formerly Twitter) has been hacked, with the hacker changing the username to 'ether.fi'. Currently, the account @canarabank, which boasts 2.55 lakh followers, has not yet been reclaimed by the bank.

As of 1:30 p.m., no new posts have been made on the account since it was compromised.

This incident follows a similar cyber attack on Axis Bank's support handle on the social media platform X, which occurred on the night of June 17. During that time, hackers posted content related to Elon Musk's company Tesla.

Axis Bank responded on June 18, stating, "We are investigating a possible hack of the bank’s support handle and working to resolve the issue urgently. Please disregard any posts made during this period and avoid clicking on unauthorized links."

In a separate statement, Axis Bank clarified, “The bank never asked for any kind of personal details regarding internet and mobile banking passwords, OTP, ATM PIN, or otherwise. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.” IANS
