Adani Group rules out airline venture, dismisses media reports as false

New Delhi: Adani Enterprises on Friday dismissed reports claiming it was planning to launch a commercial airline, calling the speculation 'entirely baseless and factually incorrect.'

In a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, the company categorically stated that it is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business.

'The reports are entirely baseless and factually incorrect. The Company is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business,' the company said.

The clarification came after media reports suggested the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate was internally exploring the possibility of launching an airline, with discussions reportedly at an early stage.

The reports also claimed the move could intensify competition in India's aviation sector, which is currently led by IndiGo and Air India.

The speculation gained attention because the Adani Group already operates eight airports across India and has announced an airport expansion plan worth around $11 billion.

Some reports further claimed that the government had informally encouraged major business groups to explore launching new airlines amid operational challenges faced by existing carriers.

However, Adani Enterprises has firmly denied any such plans.

The clarification is consistent with the group's earlier position. In December 2025, Adani Group Director Jeet Adani had said the airline business does not align with the conglomerate's investment philosophy, citing the industry's low-margin economics and capital-intensive nature.

With its latest statement, Adani Enterprises has once again made it clear that it has no intention of entering the commercial aviation business.
