Youth dies after swallowing MDMA packet while evading police in Kozhikode

Kozhikode, Kerala: In an unfortunate incident, a youth lost his life on Saturday after swallowing a packet of MDMA upon spotting the police.

The deceased has been identified as Iyadan Shanid (28), hailing from Maikave in Kozhikode. He passed away while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College.

According to Thamarassery Police, Shanid, previously accused in drug-related cases, ingested a packet containing 130 grams of MDMA in an attempt to evade arrest.

Later, police officials took Shanid to the hospital on Friday. According to the police, he confessed to swallowing the packet.

The hospital authorities stated that the exact cause of death can only be confirmed through a post-mortem examination—whether it was due to the presence of plastic in the stomach or an excessive amount of drugs entering the body.
