Woman strangled to death in Aluva lodge; accused shows her body to friends on video call; arrested

Ernakulam: A young woman was found murdered at a lodge in Aluva, Ernakulam, in the early hours of Monday.
The victim, identified as Akhila, a native of Kundara in Kollam district, was allegedly strangled with a shawl by her male companion.
The accused, Binu, a resident of Neriamangalam, was taken into custody by the Aluva police shortly after the incident.
According to police sources, the murder took place after an argument broke out between the two. Akhila had reportedly insisted on marriage, which led to a heated altercation.
As the argument escalated, Binu allegedly used a shawl to strangle Akhila, causing her death. Disturbingly, after committing the crime, Binu reportedly made a video call to his friends, showing them the scene and confessing to the act. Shocked by the visuals, one of his friends alerted the Aluva police.
The murder occurred at a lodge in the Thottungal area of Aluva town. Later, the police team took custody of the accused and recorded his arrest.
