Karnataka wild elephant attack: Kerala farmer killed while searching for missing buffalo

Karnataka: A 72-year-old farmer from Kalady in Ernakulam district, Kerala, was tragically trampled to death by a wild elephant at Madabur in N.R. Pura taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, on Thursday. Deceased K.K. Aliayaz and his son were searching for a missing buffalo when they encountered the elephant.

While the son managed to climb a tree for safety, Aliayaz was unable to escape the elephant’s attack. Local police and Forest Department officials arrived at the village following the incident.

Second death in 20 days

This marks the second fatality in the district linked to elephant attacks within the past 20 days. Earlier, Umesh, a resident of Seethur in N.R. Pura taluk, also died in a similar attack.

In response to these tragic events, local residents have staged protests, urging the Karnataka government to capture and relocate the wild elephants that continue to roam the area.
