Kerala SSLC results 2026: Absence of govt, education minister puts scheduled announcement in doubt

Thiruvananthapuram: Uncertainty has arisen over the announcement of Kerala SSLC examination results as the new state government and Cabinet have not yet assumed office following the Assembly election verdict.
The Education Minister in the previous government had earlier announced that the results would be published on Friday, May 15. However, officials have not yet confirmed whether the announcement will go ahead as scheduled.
The examination board is due to meet on Wednesday after the completion of valuation and other related procedures. The board is expected to give final approval to the results.
Officials said one more day would be needed to complete the formal procedures connected with the declaration after the board meeting. The meeting itself was arranged as part of that process.
Uncertainty over who will officially declare results
Examination Bhavan has already completed preparations for the Friday announcement after carrying out routine procedures. But the absence of both a new government and an Education Minister has raised questions over who will officially announce the results.
During the 2021 election period, the SSLC results were announced by the then General Education Secretary. Officials said it is still unclear whether the same arrangement will be followed this year.
Former General Education Principal Secretary K Vasuki has now been transferred to Lok Bhavan. At present, Sharmila Mary Joseph IAS is handling the secretary’s charge. General Education Director NSK Umesh also continues in office.
No decision yet on final announcement process
Officials said the General Education Secretary and Director could jointly decide the announcement process once all procedures are completed, as has been done in earlier years. However, no discussion on the final process has taken place yet.
Meanwhile, central boards, including the CBSE, have already announced their examination results.
AKSTU General Secretary O K Jayakrishnan has submitted a memorandum to the General Education Director requesting that the SSLC results be announced on the originally scheduled date.
