‘We used Shamna Kasim’s dance moves; CM’s words came as a relief’; Meet the creators of Kerala’s viral video

Thrissur: At a time when Kerala has been witnessing frequent power cuts, a dance video featuring Chief Minister VD Satheesan and KSEB employees went viral on social media. It was an AI-generated video that almost looked better than the original. Behind the video, which became a huge hit on social media, is a friendship that stretches from Thrissur to Abu Dhabi. Thrissur native Abhijith and his friend Akhil, who works in Abu Dhabi, together created the viral video.
Abhijith says the idea came up after the difficulties faced by people due to the severe power cuts became a topic of discussion on social media. The video was released through ‘AI Kavala’, a social media page run as part of Abhijith’s digital marketing company. Abhijith and Akhil worked out the concept through continuous online discussions.
According to Abhijith, the dance moves and expressions performed by actor Shamna Kasim for a song in Jailer 2 were incorporated into the Chief Minister using AI. They felt Shamna’s expressions, which had earlier gone viral, were a perfect fit for the concept. Abhijith said the video was not created out of anger towards the Chief Minister, but rather as a light-hearted take on the situation.
The video was viewed by more than 1.78 crore people within a short time of its release and received over 52,000 comments. The creators say they were greatly relieved when the Chief Minister himself said at an event, “I dance better than Vijay and Mohanlal.”
Akhil said they were very happy that people embraced the video so quickly and that they learned the Chief Minister himself had enjoyed it.
The duo are especially happy that people across Kerala, particularly children, enjoyed the video without negative comments or abuse. They are now preparing to launch a new academy called ‘AI Ads Media’ to provide high-quality training to more people in the fields of AI and digital marketing.
