Medical board to decide on treatment as VS Achuthanandan remains critical

A medical board will meet today (Tuesday) to assess the condition of former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, who continues to remain critical in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital. His family members are expected to attend the review meeting, which will determine the next steps in his treatment.
The 101-year-old veteran leader was admitted on June 23 after suffering a cardiac arrest and complications linked to age-related ailments.
A towering presence in Kerala’s political landscape, Achuthanandan served as the State’s Chief Minister from 2006 to 2011. A founding figure of the Communist movement in Kerala, he has mostly withdrawn from public life in recent years.
