Visuals from the inauguration of the Kumbichalkadavu Bridge in Amboori have sparked discussion on social and traditional media, showing Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in brief interactions with local representatives.

Two brief encounters draw attention

The incidents took place as the Chief Minister was leaving the stage after the function. The first involved Athira Grace, a district panchayat member, who approached him holding a phone. After a short verbal exchange, the Chief Minister continued walking, and Grace returned to her spot.

The second encounter involved Thomas Mangalassery, president of the Amboori grama panchayat, who approached the Chief Minister to submit a representation. After a brief conversation, the Chief Minister instructed officials to receive the document.

Public reactions and clarifications

Following the circulation of the visuals, critics claimed the Chief Minister appeared cold and unaccommodating. Some suggested that Grace’s request for a selfie had been denied.

Grace later clarified her actions:

“I did not go to take a selfie. I received a phone call at that moment. I went to submit a representation. The Chief Minister was busy. There is no need to twist this otherwise. I did not ask to take a selfie, and the Chief Minister did not ask me to move aside,” she said.
