Violent clash between lawyers and SFI activists of Maharaja's College in Ernakulam; several injured

Kochi: A violent clash broke out between lawyers and the SFI (Students Federation of India) activists from Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam.
The incident happened around midnight at the district court premises and on the Maharaja’s College campus.
More than ten students and nine lawyers were injured in the altercation. The police officers who attempted to intervene and contain the situation were also injured in the incident.
According to the lawyers, the conflict started when SFI activists disrupted a Bar Association event. On the other hand, SFI members alleged that some of the lawyers, under the influence of alcohol, behaved inappropriately with female students, which led to the altercation.
The injured were admitted to Ernakulam General Hospital and nearby private hospitals for treatment.
