Vijayaraghavan criticises League over their stand on minority scholarship issue

Alappuzha: CPM acting state secretary A Vijayaraghavan said that the government took the decision to grant minority scholarship on the basis of population after convening an all-party meeting. He was responding to the media in Alappuzha.

Muslim League seems to have taken a different opinion within UDF. Some statements give the impression that they are trying to depict the matter in a different angle. It is clearly stated that nobody will lose their scholarship, he added.

The high court opined that the minority scholarship should be subjected to some changes. But the government first communicated with all parties before taking a decision. This interaction was held in order to avoid fake campaigns which may affect the harmony among the public, Vijayaraghavan said.

No community will lose their scholarship. The government will bear the additional expense for the same. The public has accepted the government decision because it was taken as part of the democratic approach of the government, Vijayaraghavan said.
