Amid mounting criticism, Kerala Police chief recommends vigilance probe against ADGP

Thiruvananthapuram: A recommendation for a vigilance enquiry has been made against Kerala Additional Director General of Police (Law and order) M.R. Ajithkumar. The recommendation from the state police chief has been forwarded to the vigilance director. This development comes at a time when the LDF-led Kerala government is facing criticism for allegedly protecting the ADGP despite accusations made by ruling party MLA P.V. Anvar.

The vigilance department will investigate financial charges raised by P.V. Anvar. Further action will be taken once the vigilance director resumes duty after his leave. If a preliminary enquiry reveals sufficient evidence, government approval will be sought for a detailed investigation.

The allegations against M.R. Ajithkumar include the unauthorised acquisition of property, accumulation of assets in the names of relatives, purchasing land in Kowdiar with a substantial sum of money, and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 crore to settle a case.
