KK Rema’s ex-aide injured while bursting firecrackers; rumours spread calling it a bomb incident

Vatakara: An online controversy has erupted over an injury sustained by the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) worker and former personal staff member of K K Rema MLA, R Riju, during Vishu celebrations, following claims on social media alleging that he lost his palm while attempting to make a bomb.
Riju has dismissed the allegations, clarifying the circumstances in a Facebook Live session, after the claims began circulating widely online.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening while Riju was celebrating Vishu with family members at a house near the Vatakara Co-operative Hospital. He suffered an injury to a finger on his right hand and subsequently sought treatment at the Co-operative Hospital. He returned home on Wednesday.

However, on Wednesday, social media posts began circulating claiming that Riju had been injured while making a bomb, triggering political controversy. Following this, the RMP came out strongly against the allegations.
The party alleged that the campaign was a coordinated attempt led by the CPM to defame the RMP and K K Rema, describing it as part of a continuing pattern of misinformation in Vatakara.
RMP district committee claimed that such posts were being circulated in a manner that could incite public unrest, and demanded strict legal action against those spreading them. District secretary Kulangara Chandran also urged authorities to take strong action against the false propaganda.
Riju is reportedly preparing to initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
