UPSC results 2023: Kerala IPS trainee propels to IAS status in fourth attempt

Chavara: IPS trainee Gautham Raj bettered his performance by securing 63rd rank in UPSC CSE 2022. He now falls in the ‘IAS’ category.
His father Somarajan Pillai is a retired senior finance officer. His mother R Sushama Devi, retired as head teacher from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel memorial school. Gautham’s wife Archana who had secured 99th rank in CSE 2019, is currently working as income tax assistant commissioner at Mangaluru. His brother Arun Raj is a chartered accountant.
Gautham, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, has been a civil service aspirant ever since his school days. He had secured 353rd, 310th, and 210th ranks in his previous attempts in 2019, 2020, and 2021 respectively.
He is currently undergoing IPS training at Hyderabad National Police Academy.
