Unfair trade practices during Onam: Legal Metrology Department to beef up vigil

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the Onam festival in Kerala, the Legal Metrology Department has announced inspections at business establishments to end unfair trade practices. The aim is to step vigil against various violations including:

• Overpricing
• Use of substandard weights and balances
• Sales of underweight products
• Sales of items without necessary declaration and required information

The Legal Metrology Controller warned of legal action against unfair trade practices. 

A control room is opened for the public to lodge complaints. The consumers can lodge a complaint to the Legal Metrology Controller Office.

The squads will conduct the inspections till August 28.
