Medical board formed to monitor Uma Thomas MLA's health, says Veena George

Kochi: Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas is on a ventilator support following a fall from a stage during an event at Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.
Health Minister Veena George revealed that a medical board has been established to monitor her treatment.
"I have been in constant contact with the hospital authorities, directors, and doctors treating Uma Thomas. A medical board has been set up, along with a medical expert team including thoracic and neurosurgeons. Authorities have informed that she should begin recovering within the next 24 to 48 hours," she said.
Meanwhile, the hospital authorities informed that Thomas sustained both head and lung injuries, with signs of blood clots. She was rushed to the hospital immediately after the fall, and medical experts have been closely monitoring her condition. A medical bulletin is expected to be issued by the hospital.
Meanwhile, minister Saji Cherian, who attended the programme, explained that instead of a handrail, a ribbon was tied on the stage.
The MLA allegedly lost her balance and fell onto the concrete floor while attempting to hold onto a ribbon tied on the stage, which was intended to serve as a handrail to navigate the crowded space. However, the ribbon lacked the necessary strength to support her, causing her to lose her balance and fall.
The incident happened during a Guinness World Record attempt at the Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where 12,000 dancers were performing.
