UAE visit of Kerala officials postponed

Thiruvananthapuram: The official team representing the Kerala government, which was scheduled to depart for UAE as part of friendly ties between the gulf country and the state of Kerala, has been forced to postpone their visit. This comes as the team failed to receive clearance from the external affairs ministry.

The delegates led by CM’s principal secretary Dr KK Abraham who were scheduled to leave on Tuesday, however, did not receive the nod from the external affairs ministry until Monday. It should be noted that the UAE’s coveted Sheikh Zayed Charity Marathon is being organised in Kerala this year.

The delegates planned their visit to the UAE so as to discuss the marathon and also to improve upon the mutual cooperation in the tourism sector. NORKA principal secretary Suman Billa and tourism director P B Nooh were among the other prominent personalities in the team of delegates. Earlier, Kerala CM Pinarayi Viujayan held discussions with the UAE officials on his visit to the country last month.
