UAE tops exports list at Kochi port

Kochi: Between January-June 2023, the maximum share of goods from the Kochi port was exported to the UAE. The export rates to UAE in six months stood at 1.3 lakh tonnes. This accounts for 17.97 percent of the total exports from the port during the time period. USA and China occupy second and third positions in the list respectively. Together, exports to these countries from the Kochi port between January-June this year covered 40 percent of the total exports.

The overall export from the port during the time period stood at 7.17 lakh tonnes. Last year, it was 7.25 lakh tonnes. Coir products were primarily exported during the time period, followed by food products, and other sea products.

Meanwhile, the import rates for the time period stood at 11.35 tonnes. The maximum imports came into the Kochi port from UAE, China and Africa.
