Man cancels international trip after dog bite at TVM airport

Thiruvananthapuram: In an unfortunate incident, a passenger on an international trip has been bitten by a stray dog at the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram. The passenger, who sought medical treatment, had to cancel his journey.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at 3 pm, and the victim was identified as Abi Kolakott Jacob, who sustained the bite on his left leg. He was due to board an Air Arabia flight departing for Sharjah on Tuesday evening.
The passenger stated that the dog attacked when he reached the area where trolleys loaded with luggage were parked, just before entering the terminal.
CISF personnel arrived and drove the dog away from the location. Although the injury was minor, caused by the dog’s teeth, an airport doctor who examined the wound advised that he be taken to the General Hospital for preventive vaccination. Following that the airport ambulance immediately transported him to the General Hospital.
The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has been sent multiple requests to remove stray dogs from the airport premises.
Meanwhile, the airport authorities stated that in lieu of the disrupted travel, all assistance would be provided to help the passenger make his international trip in the following days.
