Kozhikode: Kozhikode district collector Snehil Kumar Singh has brought about certain traffic restrictions on the Thamarassery ghat road. Goods carrier trucks and other giant vehicles have been restricted from moving on the ghat road from 3 PM to 9 PM on holidays, when more travellers tend to pass through the high altitude road.

The never ending traffic menace on the stretch of road has forced the collector to take such a decision. Traffic regulations will be imposed in the area on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays and on Fridays preceding second Saturdays. Movement of tippers with more than six wheels, good vehicles with more than ten wheels, multi axle vehicles and trucks will be totally regulated in the area on the above mentioned days. Traffic restrictions will be put in place on Monday mornings as well, between 6 AM - 9 AM.

The collector has put in the restrictions in place by using various provisions of the disaster management rules. The restrictions shall continue until further ruling. Meanwhile, Snehil Kumar also instructed the officials to establish a facility in the Thamarassery region for dealing with the accidents, vehicle breakdowns and other emergency situations which are bound to arise on the ghat road.
