Pooram row: Thrissur Commissioner Ankit Asokan removed from post

Thrissur: Following the Thrissur Pooram row, District Commissioner Ankit Asokan has been removed from the post. R Ilango will assume office in his place. 

At the moment, Ankit Asokan has not been given a new posting. The decision to transfer the IPS officer was taken several days ago. However, the order was issued only on Monday owing to the Election Code of Conduct which was in effect over the last few months. 

Alleged police high handedness played spoilsport in this year’s Pooram, delaying the iconic fireworks on its last day for over four hours. The event eventually took place the next morning.
