Three arrested in Kannur blast case; Police continue investigation

Kannur: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the explosion that occurred during bomb-making activities in Panur, in which a person was killed on Friday.  According to Panur police, the arrested individuals are  Shabinlal of Cheruparamba, Athul of Kunnothuparamba and Arun of Chendayad. Though one more person is being taken into custody in connection with the incident, his arrest has not been officially recorded. 

The trio arrested were reportedly present at the scene when the blast occurred. Police initiated evidence collection at the site around 11:30 am on Saturday with one of them, focusing on gathering clues within and around the premises where the bomb was being assembled. However, authorities have refrained from disclosing further details pertaining to the incident, including the exact number and identities of individuals present during the bomb-making process. It is reported that the three arrested individuals are purported supporters of the CPM while the exact circumstances surrounding their involvement remain under investigation. 

Meanwhile,   Vadakara Lok Sabha Constituency UDFcandidate Shafi Parambil has organised a 'peace rally' at Panur on Saturday. Shafi has lashed out against the CPM and expressed his concerns regarding bomb-making activities allegedly taking place in the area with the silent nod and blessings of certain leaders.

CPM state secretary MV Govindan reiterated that the CPM has no involvement in the incident, dismissing the accusations leveled against the party.
