Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram special train service extended till October 28 amid high demand

Kollam (Kerala): Southern Railway has extended the special train service, started to accommodate heavy Onam festival rush, between Thiruvananthapuram Central to Tambaram, Chennai, until October 28. The service, which was originally scheduled to conclude on September 2, was extended following high passenger occupancy during the Onam season. The decision follows repeated representations made by public representatives and various passenger associations to railway authorities to maintain the service.

The train has designated stops at Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala, Kollam, Kottarakkara, Avaneeswaram and Punalur.

• Thiruvananthapuram Central to Tambaram: Operates on September 16, 23 and 30, and on October 7, 14, 21 and 28. 
• Tambaram to Thiruvananthapuram Central: Operates on September 17 and 24, and on October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.

This extension serves as a convenient travel option for commuters travelling to major destinations including Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli, Viluppuram and Chennai.
