Thiruvananthapuram Airport to welcome five-star hotel; ₹136.31 Cr project with 240 rooms, 660-seat convention centre

Thiruvananthapuram: The skyline near Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is poised for a transformation as the Union Ministry of Environment has recommended clearance for a new luxury hotel. The Adani Group, which now manages the airport, had already drawn up plans for the ambitious project.

A five-star vision near the terminal

The proposed hotel, to be constructed in front of the international terminal at Chakkai, will involve an investment of ₹136.31 crore. Spread across 33,902 square metres, it will offer 240 rooms, carefully designed within the airport’s height restrictions, limiting the structure to 23 metres.

Beyond rooms: amenities for global travellers

The hotel will feature a 660-seat convention centre, a restaurant, and a range of amenities aimed at providing a world-class experience. The Adani Group has signalled that visitors can expect shopping and other facilities comparable to international airports worldwide.

Approval journey: from state to Centre

The project faced delays after the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) requested changes to the original design. Even after resubmission, the approval could not proceed as SEIAA’s term had expired, leaving the pending applications to be forwarded to the Union government.

A new chapter for airport development

With the Centre’s recommendation now in place, state-level clearance from SEIAA is expected shortly. Once approvals are granted, construction could be completed within a year. The hotel will be managed by an international agency with a proven track record in hospitality, marking a significant step in the airport’s city-side development plan.
