Thachankary, the aesthete policeman, set to retire on Monday; Autobiography as a screenplay

Kochi: “I came to say goodbye…with folded hands I say goodbye…”, Tomin J Thachankary will sing the refrain of a song as his police career comes to an end. With this song, the DGP will ceremoniously retire from his rank at the farewell function in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. This is how the khakee-clad artistic officer wishes to leave his signature behind as he retires from service.
Thachankary bids farewell to the force from his post as the DGP of the Human Rights Commission (Investigation) without decorating the post of Chief of Police.
“Like everyone else, I also had aspirations. But I was hurt when someone junior to me was appointed. I felt that the people would see me as a bad person. The state government had recommended my name. It was cut from Delhi. But when I realized the limitations faced by many who hold that post, I felt it was good that I didn’t get it”, Thachankary said.
He said that he has prepared a definite action plan for his post-retirement life. Instead of writing a service story like everyone do, he plans to write about the experiences that he felt, heard and saw. Thachankery’s autobiography will be presented to the Malayalee audience in the form of cinema.
The experiences he had when decorating various posts like KSRTC Managing Director will become the subject of each film, he said. He plans to hand over direction to the best in the industry. The films will be produced under the banner of Ryan Studios, managed by the DGP himself in a move to revive the banner.
He also accused Rishiraj Singh, his police colleague, as being behind the conspiracy to close down Ryan studios in the name of producing pirated CDs.
