Kuzhalmandam: In a latest development, Supplyco ended up granting two PRS loans to a single farmer on a single day via two different banks. Farmer U Manikandan was caught in a difficult position as he was granted two PRS loans on the same day.

During the initial harvest this year, Manikandan had submitted his SBI bank account details. But in his case, while one PRS loan money was credited to the SBI account, the other was credited to the Canara bank. Interestingly, Manikandan does not even have an account in Canara bank. Now, he will have to open a new one. As of now, Rs 1,92,293 has been credited to the SBI account and Rs 28,603 has been sent to Canara bank.

Manikandan said that if he was aware of the money being credited, he would have submitted an application to the authorities requesting them to deposit the entire money in his SBI account. With the latest development, the poor farmer now holds liabilities in both the banks and it is bound to adversely affect his CIBIL score as well.

Meanwhile, Supplyco officials have responded saying that technicalities involving sanctioning funds online on the basis of PRS numbers have led to the current situation.
